In 2003, a remake came out that featured an incredible cast that was somewhat unknown – Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Seth Green, Mos Def, Edward Norton, Jason Statham, Mos Def…All big time Hollywood players now.

They were together for an incredible heist film, one that was originally a comedy based in Turin, Italy, but in 2003 started with gold stolen in Venice and later found in Los Angeles.

A definite seat of the pants action film, they brought back the Mini Coopers, they brought back the computer hacker, and they had a start with the next generation of heist films, as far as we’re concerned!

Join Doug and Mike as we discuss 2003 (and make a comparison to the 1969 version) of The Italian Job.

It’s 1938, and air racing has fascinated the country. Howard Hughes, aka John Locke, and his engineers build a secret weapon that the FBI is searching for as well as the Nazis and the Mob. Hollywood has a deceptive leading man, who seems to have ties with the seedy side of the law, but also happens to be 007! What sort of history was this?!

Ok, really, it’s 1991, and a film that was somewhat panned at the box office has become a cult classic period piece by the Walt Disney Company. Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connolly, and Timothy Dalton show up with Terry O’Quinn to become the Rocketeer, fighting against the Nazis, sniffing out a spy ring, and becoming what was billed as an “airborne Indiana Jones”.

Join Mike and I as we (finally) have the latest episode of Talkin’ Bout My Generation up, on Disney’s The Rocketeer.

Yes, yes, I know – this is going up the day AFTER Halloween. But, just like the Simpsons have done before with their “Treehouse of Terror” episodes airing after Halloween, Mike and I have picked up some creepy comedies for you to enjoy.

Starting with 1991’s Addams Family (and discussing its sequel, Addams Family Values), we give a sampling through the snapping and harpsichord music to jump in with Jim Carrey’s Once Bitten, Mel Brooks’ spoof Dracula: Dead and Loving It, and finally, a trip back to memory lane for one of our Halloween favorites, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

Come join us as we relive our favorites from the past on this week’s episode of Talkin’ Bout My Generation!
