In the fall of 1993, ABC launched a new program, aimed at pre-teens. As part of the TGIF lineup, Boy Meets World was launched with Fred Savage’s little brother, Ben, as the main star, Cornelius “Cory” Matthews.

We grew up with him, watched him grow from the goofy little kid with the troubled friend, Shaun, older brother Eric, and smart girl (aka his love interest, girlfriend, and finally wife) Topanga.

The show was a hit, lasting 7 seasons before finally ending. But that’s not the end – not by a long shot.

On Fri., June 27th, the next iteration of Boy Meets World will launch with the future of Cory and Topanga as parents of their own children, of which their daughter is going out into her own world.

Come listen as Doug Abel and Mike Blanchard discuss the past, and give a sneak preview of the next generation of this series on Talkin’ Bout My Generation!

For most of our lives, we’ve grown up hearing this iconic radio voice. Many of you, or even your parents, listened to him count down from the American Top 40. Still others remember him as the groovy fraidy cat from Scooby-Doo, or the voice of Robin from the Super Friends.

Casey was a legend who shall be remembered for everything he brought to us – the number one hits, the long distance dedications, and his numerous voiceovers. We give this tribute to him as he passed away on June 15, 2014, at the age of 82, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Listen as Mike Blanchard and Doug Abel try to pay a great homage to Casey Kasem on this week’s episode of Talkin’ Bout My Generation.

1985. Rankin Bass, producers of television Christmas classics like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, and Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town, produced a television series that became wildly popular. Kids everywhere were shouting, “Thunder, Thunder, THUNDER! THUNDERCATS! HOOOOOOOO!”

Doug Abel and Mike Blanchard throw back to the 80’s for this classic cartoon, as well as throwing a nod to the short lived 2011 series that was never given a fair shake by Cartoon Network.

If you’ve ever heard the name Lion-O, Mumm-Ra, or even wondered what a Samophlange is, this is the podcast you need to listen to!

The 90’s were the last great hurrah to afternoon cartoons. The cartoons were the last ones that came on after school, before Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel started showing them on a 24 hour basis. And one of our favorite cartoons, perhaps the best one to come out of that era, was […]

Every once in a blue moon, a film comes around that has been colored. It does poorly at the box office, but obtains a HUGE cult following afterward, when it releases to other media. Such is the case for a film from 1995. It debuted in San Diego during Comic-Con, screened in Horton Plaza to […]

In 1989, John Hughes made a film with SCTV alum John Candy. It was the first of John Hughes’ multi-picture deal with Universal, and was perhaps one of Candy’s best films. TFG1Mike from Geekcast Radio Network has taken over Talkin’ Bout My Generation this week to bring us a mid-week episode of a GREAT 80’s cartoon. In 1993, a movie that relived a day – over, and over, and over, and OVER again – was released to rave reviews. It’s been made a cultural icon for a holiday that tells us (theoretically, anyway) whether winter will be another 6 weeks long or not. Bill Murray and Andie Macdowell star in this […]
